Current Projects
Adams Street Water Main Replacement
The Elk Grove Water District (EGWD) started a water main replacement project on Truman/Adams St. from FY 21/22. This project finishes the installation of 8” PVC water main on Adams St. The lots on Truman Street and Adams Street are served by 3/4" service lines. This project finishes the installation of an 8” water main in Truman Street and Adams Street to current EGWD standards and replaces the 3/4” service lines with 1” service lines. This project also connects the water main installed in Adams Street to the existing water main in Eva Street and to the water main in Elk Gove Blvd. to provide looped service.
2nd Ave. Water Main Replacement
The EGWD will begin a project on 2nd Avenue bounded by Elk Grove Blvd. and Polhemus Dr. that installs 8” PVC water main in 2nd Avenue. 2nd Avenue is currently served by a 6” water main installed in 1965 and is therefore reaching the water main’s end of useful life and needs to be replaced. This project will also upsize the water main to 8” PVC to be in accordance with current EGWD standards.

HAMPTON VILLAGE WATER TREATMENT PLANT REFURBISHMENT PROJECT
The EGWD refurbished the Hampton Village Water Treatment Plant (WTP). This project reactivated the Hampton Village WTP which was shutdown in 2008. The Hampton Village WTP provides an additional 1,000 gallons per minute of water to EGWD's source capacity, and improves the reliability of the water system by providing redundancy to the Railroad Street Water Treatment Facility.
METER RETROFIT PROJECT
Since 1992, State law has required the installation of a water meter as part of any new construction. AB 2572, passed in 2004, requires all unmetered buildings to be retrofitted with water meters by 2025. EGWD completed the installation of water meters in all commercial and residential properties in February, 2015.
